Hardwood Floor Repair & Refinishing

Scratched, dull and damaged hardwood floors repaired, sanded and refinished so they glow again.

Hardwood floors can be refinished many times, and that is their great advantage. Scratches, water marks, gaps and a worn-through finish do not mean a floor is finished. A good sanding and a fresh coat of finish can make a floor look new.

We repair damaged boards, fill gaps, sand through the grits for a flat uniform surface and apply stain and finish. Water-based and oil-based finishes are both available, with satin, semi-gloss or matte sheens to suit the room and your style.

Repair then refinish

Pet stains, water damage and loose boards are repaired first, weaving in new boards where needed. Refinishing a floor with open flaws wastes effort.

Sanding done right

We sand in steps from coarse to fine and finish edges by hand, so the surface is flat with no drum chatter marks or missed corners. Dust control keeps the house cleaner.

Finish choices

Water-based finishes dry fast and stay clear. Oil-based finishes warm the wood. We show samples on your floor so you can decide with real color in front of you.

Protecting the finish

Felt pads, area rugs at entries and regular sweeping extend the life of a refinished floor. We leave you a care sheet with products to use and avoid.

Questions

Hardwood Refinishing FAQ

How many times can a hardwood floor be refinished?

Solid hardwood can often be sanded several times. Engineered floors depend on the thickness of the top layer.

How long before I can walk on a refinished floor?

Light foot traffic in socks after a day or so, and furniture after several days. We give you exact timing for the finish we use.

Can you change the color of my floor?

Yes. Sanding to bare wood lets you stain a new color. We test it on a small area first.

Can you fix a single damaged board?

Yes. We cut out and replace the board and blend it into the floor.

What should I use to clean hardwood?

A dry mop or a barely damp cloth with a hardwood-safe cleaner. Avoid steam mops.
